Hi Monika,
Or it could be a Fowler's Toad (Anaxyrus fowleri )
But I am not a 100 % sure
What color are his feet? Same as the body colors or much lighter?
I thought the Eastern American Toad had more of a pointed snout?
Perhaps we could get a few more options .... they will come along
Could you possibly post a photo ?.....It would be good to see his color ....more clearly

I believe that it's feet are lighter. In fact, it's whole underside is almost white in color. Do you need a better picture of it's face, belly? What would help? It is definitely more grey in color like the larger picture in my first post. I will take more tonight when I get home. I was leaning towards Fowlers as well, but...

Can't see those pics well; but if an American Toad, it will have one or two warts in each of the large dark blotches on their back and larger warts on the legs tibia. The white chest usually has dark speckles and the parotoid gland (on toad's back behind eyes) is typically separated from the cranial ridge.
If on the contrary it's the similar looking Fowler's Toad, it will have 3 or more warts within each dark spot on its back. There are no greatly enlarged warts on the leg's tibia and the parotoid gland touches the cranial crests behind the eyes.
Wish to see better pics; but appears yours is an American Toad or Anaxyrus americanus .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Yes, I agree! Cute little American bufo, and a male at that. Has he started calling yet?

My vote is American. Crest is to high for Fowlers, no low for Southern, plus only one to two warts per black spot. Yup, gotta say American AND a real cutie!!

What a healthy looking and cute toad!
Bufo americanus - Salazar (male)
R.I.P Coco
Here' s another little cutie. I got this one from the same area. The teenage boys were chasing the girls around the church parking lot with her, trying to scare them,so she came home with me. This one is a little bigger than the other one. Looks to be an American like the other. I have no idea if it's a female or a male.
