Hi! I have been a member for a while because my son is the proud froggy parent to a trio of fire bellies. This summer we found frog eggs floating on top of my mom's (unclorinated at the time) swimming pool. Being animal people and curious too we scooped a few up to see what happened. We have enjoyed watching the transition from egg to tadpole and beyond. I have made arrangements with a neighbor to release the little guys in a safer environment than a swimming pool but we plan on keeping a couple. Yesterday I discovered a tiny little tree frog with a bit of a tail clinging to the side of my water filled aquarium. Do I need to move the little guy into a different aquarium? How long can he/she stay with the tadpoles? Can he/she still eat the fishfood that has worked so well so far? I guess it is time to figure out what we are doing with these little guys!

You need to get the morphed baby out of the aquarium right away or he will drown. I would put him in a new tank with damp, unprinted paper towel. You will need to get fruit flies or pinhead crickets to feed them as they morph, but keep in mind that it could take several days for the baby to eat. You will have to get some pictures so we can properly identify what species you have and its needs.

Froglet grow out home can be a small tank with screen top (5-10 gal). Use damp (dechlorinated tap) unprinted paper towels for substrate. A very small water cap with dechlorinated tap filled to froglet's chin will provide a water source. Change the water daily and the towels every couple days.
Once tail is fully resorbed, start offering fruit flies (get a culture that is starting to produce now). Crickets will initially be pinheads (feed crickets cherios, lettuce, and carrots 24-48 hours before use) and increase their size to match the distance between the froglet's eyes. Will need to use supplements; more info on that here: http://www.frogforum.net/food-feeder...schedules.html.
About 30 days after emerging you can release or move to permanent home. If Grey's, the small-tall ExoTerra (18x18x24) will do for a pair. More info on their care in here: Frog Forum - Gray Tree Frog Care and Breeding. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
can I use a clean plastic tote as a temporary home? With a screen cover of course? my aquarium is currently full of tadpoles
it could sit on my thumbnail and have room left over

no petco nearby, I will search online or try the petsmart in town. I have 30+ tadpoles still growing, I only plan on keeping 2 or 3. My son says he wants to keep them all, then he can take over the world with his frog army.
Awwwww, so cute! Welcome to the frog forum!
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Omg adorable!!! Can you post pictures of all the tadpoles and baby frogs? I just want to see them all!
Nice baby grey tree frog! My petsmart does sell fruit flies, in little tubes with blue goo. I learned quickly that those do not last very long! Your best bet would be to find someone locally that sells bigger cultures, order online, or learn to make your own. Otherwise you can look for pinhead crickets.
