One of my two ADF's went missing a few weeks ago. I am still not sure how he escaped as the tank has a lid and I never could find him. My remaining frog seems very depressed since then, no other way to describe it. He remains hidden under the fake turtle in the tank and barely comes out to eat. I thought I would get another ADF to keep him company but I wondered how that works when the new one will most likely be younger and much smaller. Has anyone done this before and can offer advice? Thanks
Hi,
usually, introducing a juvenile ADF (about 1.5 cm SVL) to a group of adult ADFs doesn´t cause any real problems. The younger one might need more frequent feeding, so you would have to find a balance so that the new one can grow normally without overfeeding the others.
However, I wouldn´t introduce new frogs without quarantining them first anymore; there is always a risk of catching a possibly deadly disease (I´ve learned that the hard way)...
