I have rescued yet another toad, but I found this one with a bad open wound on his hind limb. It's very deep, and you can see muscles, bones, and tendons. Is there anything I can do to help him? I really don't want him to get an infection, and he is probably in a lot of pain. Any replies are greatly appreciated.
Injuries can be treated using Bactine. Just gently swab the infected area twice daily until healed. Keep the toad in a clean container with secure lid. Mist often to keep toad moist. Should heal in a week or so.

Alright, thanks! But does that mean he can't have a substrate in his enclosure?
Damp (dechlorinated water) paper towels changed daily will be substrate until wound is healed and closed .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Alright, will do. He was in a 10 gallon with my other toad with an Eco-Earth substrate. His wound now seems to be scabbing, is that a good sign?
