    Cool Vivarium lighting question 2.0

    Good afternoon my friends,

I posted some lighting questions a while back, and now have some follow up questions.

I'm building a 10 gallon PCF tank, planted as natural to Oregon as I can get. My current line of lighting question have to do with brightness.

While shopping around, I've found quite a few options in CFL and LED bulbs within the 6500 Kelvin range, but I'm a little worried about brightness.

Is there any potential harm that can happen to the frogs(vision, etc)?

Can a person diffuse the light without losing the effectiveness of the light for plants?

Am I over thinking this? OR......... .should I try and build some frog sized sunglasses?

I would recommend some frog sized sunglasses, a tiny bottle of sun lotion, maybe a little umbrella. Lol

No, you don't need to worry about the brightness. Even the strongest LEDs aren't even close to what direct sunlight throws off.

Oh, you can diffuse the light using a piece of eggcrate on top of your tanks lid. That's actually the true purpose of eggcrate, it's a light diffuser
