A local herpetologist took a look at this fellow says its hard to tell but it may be a hybrid he says it is defiantly not a northern leopard. It could be a Lithobates palustris (Pickerel Frog). He said that it would be eaiser to tell what it is if i grow him. So I will wait and see when he reaches adulthood.
I am 100% certain that it is a Lithobates palustris and I am local herpetologist, if you're in Masachusetts.
I trust your opinion Kurt. He said that if was more than likely the picer frog but it would be easier to tell when it grows up
I can tell now. Seen a lot of palustris froglets over the years.
do they sell them in petstores petco had this one for adoption but they dont sell them
They don't in New England, because they are native and its illegal to sell native wildlife.
I think random stuff shows up in Petco occasionally, either because of an employee bringing it in or a wholesaler having a random frog in a collection group of another species. If you are looking for another you will almost certainly have to catch it yourself. I think it's a Pickerel too - there's not much else it can be.
