It's taken me a couple year's worth of stalking, and lots of nighttime tree climbing to catch a wild gray tree frog in the act! The hardest part was finding him, the second hardest part was holding on to the camera, flashlight, and branch at the same without falling out of the tree. {: > )
That's really neat! I have always had trouble catching them too, can hear them, and as soon as I get close, they go silent. I did find some calling from the edge of a pond last weekend, of course, I didn't have my camera with me then!

I get a couple of Grays hanging around my front porch at night. The light attracts an insane amount of insects.
I caught one last year just hanging out on the window of my door. I released him but was able to get a few photos of him before he hoped off.
He happens to be the frog in my avatar. They are such cute little froggies.
