Smile 35 Gallon Hexagon Build Help

Hey everyone!! It's been awhile! So, I found an empty 35 gallon hex in the basement and decided I would like to re-do it for my White's tree frog, Kisses! This will be my first 'real' build! I hope to add plants(what kinds?) and a false bottom(though I need guidance:/) and maybe a shallow water feature?? Thanks in advance guys!!

Not really, still working on that...something with a waterfall-like hill that goes into a small lagoon at the bottom would be cool, but I'm not sure what plants would go best.. I'll try drawing it out!

If you haven't already, you may want to read my thread on vivarium construction. I'll be adding to it this weekend. Plants for a white's are pretty varied, since their care is so varied. I can make a few suggestions. Are you planning on purchasing plants online? Or locally? You'll have much more variety available to you online, obviously. And be careful, because plants are addictive!! Lol

I actually just read it last night! I'm open to anything, but I feel buying online might be easier and safer for the frog! Could I keep the plants in a pot or would it be better to plant them? Also, with a false bottom, do you have to have drilled holes in it because I am not sure how that could be done.. Thanks for everything so far!!

The whole thing? I am impressed! Lol. The reason I asked about online versus local is that your options open up dramatically with online shopping. You can keep the plants in pots, if you so choose, or plant them directly into the substrate (my preferred method). As far the false bottom goes, the holes we drill into the support pieces are there so water that gets inside of them does not get stagnant and breed bacteria. An alternate method you can use would be to use stiff, plastic cups (real cup, not solo cups lol) of the height you want and silicone them upside down, therefore sealing them so no water can get inside. I'm going to be covering building a false bottom in the construction thread over the weekend.

Oh! I thought you had to drill holes in the actual tank!! Well that's a relief! I will definitely need to read up on that article! What are some reputable online plant shopping sites? Thanks for everything so far!!
