I just received two supposedly female R guttatus from Outback. One is smaller, much bolder colors and a dark lateral stripe. The other is larger with duller colors, but honestly looks line my male back home who calls nightly.
I know that larger and less colorful usually means female, but when I grab them from behind, they both chirp, presumably the male-associated release call.
Do females also make release calls? They literally just got shipped here so they are both stressed as all would be.
