When does a pacman frog coak?

I have had my frog for 7 months since he was a baby. He started to coak one month ago but I never catch him doing this. He live in a tank outside of my bedroom. Whenever I get out of the door, he stops coaking. He just hides underground and looks sleepy as usual. I don't know why he coaks. And does it mean he is definitely a boy? I thought this was girl before .

It is natural instinct for the frog to stop croaking. He doesn't want any predators to find him. It may take awhile longer for him to get used to you and croak when you are around. Yes! He is definitely a boy!

Thank you. So his croaking means that he is sextual mature and looking for a girl friend.

Not necessarily. Frogs begin to croak before they reach sexual maturity. It usually takes about two years for them to reach that stage.

I tried to play frog croaking in front of him. But he ignored it. I guess he is just shy.

A question to clarify though. How big he is in inches? He looks very small for a 7+month old, but it is hard to judge by the pic sometimes.

13. Have you found poop lately
14. A pic would be helpful including frog and enclosure (any including cell phone pic is fine)
15. Describe frog's symptoms and/or recent physical changes; to include it's ventral/belly area.
16. How old is the frog
17. How long have you owned him/her
18. Is the frog wild caught or captive bred
19. Frog food- how often and if it is diverse, what other feeders are used as treats
20. How often the frog is handled
21. Is the enclosure kept in a high or low traffic area
22. Describe enclosure maintenance (water changes, cleaning, etc)

assuming everything else is correct in husbandry you need to change his diet completely. Crickets especially canned ones are not the best to say the least.


you need to get multivitamin powder, use it once a week, ca/vitd3 use every second feeding, but not on a same day, get nightcrawlers ( fishing stores), hornworms, feed that instead of your crickets and zoomed food. Use as much variety as it is available, give him pinky, waxworms, butterworms, roaches, anything that doesnt contain lots of chitin (mealworms, superworms). Your goal is to feed him as much as he can eat every day until he is normal fat guy after you will need to control fat containing feeders and give mice no more then once a month and forget about waxworms completely
