Hi long time no post as every things been fine but since past 5 days my pacman hasnt been eating and i have no clue why iv been spot cleaning and finding poop so he's not full, do they go through a dry season where they dont eat? Also he just seems to want to completly bury himself all the time , i have;
12x12x12 exo terra tank
About 4-5 inchs eco earth
Humidty around 75%
Temp between 27-28c day, 24-25c night
infrared light as my heat source
Misted if need to
fed black/brown crickets and in a shedule with multi-vit an calcium d3
Artificial boston fern, artificial grass plant for decor
3 Sides of tank have background 1side with the polystyrene cliff effect background
water changed everyday (bottled water)
It sounds like your frog may be going through a period of estivation. Just make sure you keep fresh water in the tank at all times! I hope this helps!
Thanks mate hope it is and nothing bad iv had it for like 5-6 months and was about 5-6 cm and has been fine only never ate at the begining beacuse it needed time to get use to its new tank, how long till i should be worried and what is estivation?
Estivation happens either when it is too hot, cold, or dry. It just depends, it will eventually come out Does it look like it is incased in plastic? If you could show a pic that would be great
Nope, just caked in eco earth, but last time he ate he shedded his skin then ate it
Hrmm, still could be estavating just offer him food at normal times and if not eaten then remove the food. I hope this helps!
Hope so mate how long can they go without food? An well i usually kill it or stun it an dangle it on tounges infront onit
When you get ready to breed them they can stay like this for a couple of months. Also, I would reccomend not killing the food or stunning it unless it has a hard time eating it. I would try some live food and see if that works. I hope this helps!
Well i wont be breeding but i do hear it make noises at night but it hasnt been doing that lately and will give it a go when feeding next, thanks just lets hope he eats again soon lol
Do you have alot of decoration in your tank? I noticed some of my frogs burrowed themselves alot, but when I added plants and leaves, they started staying up more.
Frogs don't hibernate unless they are too cold or too dry, if your readings are correct, he shouldn't be hibernating. My advice would be to dig him up and give him a lukewarm dechlorinated bath for 30 minutes, then put him back and try feeding him.
Always kill prey like rodents, never take chances with your frogs health, all it takes is one wrong grab to lose an eye.
Iv got those 2 plants i listed at the top
I would kill prey like rodents but not crickets or roaches. I would try that and see if that helps. I hope this helps!
Dave - do you have picture if the frog? And its enclosure?
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
