Hi to all.
I am new to amphibians and would love to start a vivarium. I was looking at the 'bumble bee toads' but I also found 'bumble bee frog". And that's when everything started to get confusing because I am not sure which one to get (I love them both). Here are some questions:
Are there any differences in the habitat to be prepared for them?
as for the male call...which specie is not as loud?
I would like to see them active during the day (I own chameleons and geckos and I would want to feed them all around the same time).
Where should I find healthy, captive bred?
Overall, which one would you recommend?
Thanks in advance. All help is appreciated
Hello and welcome to frog forum! From what I can tell the frog that you found is a Yellow-banded poison dart frog. This species is one of the common beginner dart frogs that people get. The bumblebee walking toads are also beginner amphibians. To answer your questions:
1. The habitat difference is very different. The dart frog requires a much more jungle like habitat while the bumblebee walking toads habitat is more dry since they are toads.
2. Both species can be loud but it just depends if you get males or females.
3. Both are diurnal so they will be active during the day.
4. I know Joshsfrog sells plently of frogs and all of the reviews are great.
5. For a beginner frog/toad, I would reccomend the walking toads since they will be cheaper and they don't require much space.
I hope this helps!
