RHey all I'm new to frog keeping but have kept a wide variety of other aninals mostly herps though. l just thought I'd share my setup and conditions to see if you guys think they are decent.
First the setup:
Zoomed terrarium 12x12x18
Coco husk substrate with hydroball false bottom
Plants are philodendron, bromeliad, snake plant, pothos, irish moss, golden spikemoss
Décor: cork background water bowl, cross branch and sphagnum moss were the substrate is bare to stop coco husk from getting everywhere.
Lighting: 4 6500k CFLs
Temperature: 85ish in the day 72ish at night
Humidity: I'm not positive I need to get a digital hygrometer but I keep the viv plenty by misting 3-4 times a day
his behavior: during the day he hides in the foliage of one of the various plants. During the night he spends his time around the viv, sitting next to the water bowl or on the branch
Feeding: I feed him medium crickets i never see him eat but the crickets dont accumulate or anything
Almost everything sounds good from what you have shared. A couple things to keep in mind or alter.
1. The high temp you have is a bit to much. You should aim for 75 - 78F during the day. The low end is good, but the 80+ during the day will zap the humidity form the air quick.
2. The tank. Without knowing how old your Red is the tank will quickly get to small for him/her. You will want to invest in at least a 24" tall tank at some point. Reds (and other tree frogs) want to be up away from the ground as much as possible. in the grand scheme of things 24" is nothing compared to what they prefer, but when they are juveniles a shorter/smaller tank is preferred to help them find food.
3. Feeding - I feed my 5 reds from a glass bowl. The crickets can jump on glass so they wait in it patiently to be eaten. It took the reds a couple days to figure out how to get at the crickets in the bowl, but now they are pros. The bowl method does 2 things for you. First it allows you to easily tell how many crickets were eaten the night before and secondly will keep you from having crickets that don't get eaten die in the tank and foul up the soil that much faster.
Other than this few things I can't think of anything else based on what you have provided. Keep up the good work!
Paul

Now that I've heard you mention the glass bowl, Paul, could you post a pic of the size of it, or describe it to me? I'm just curious, because I might try this method with my AGTFs.
I'll get a pic of them in a bit. It is a Pyrex bowl sides are about 2 or 3 inches tall. The bowl needs to be cleaned daily with hot tap water and no soap.
A Picture is worth a thousand words. Give me an hour or less and I will get a pic of what I use up here for you.

ok, thanks!
As Promised. For a size reference I am 6'1" and have pretty big hands lol
Tried to take a pic of the etching in the bottom of the bowl. It is Pyrex (2cups or 470 ml). These ones came with red lids that we use for food and water dishes in the cricket bin

Cool, thanks. And the crickets don't jump out at all?
No the crickets can't get any traction on the glass so they try to climb out and fail then they sit and wait for the reds to dive in and gobble them up.
