    Default Rescue

So about a week ago I discovered this little toad floundering in one of my mom's ponds (they're the preformed ones), she has three, and I found this little guy trapped in the largest one (it houses koi and large goldfish). Sometimes we find them stuck after falling in to soak, usually we have a brick or something near the edge that way they can climb out and not drown.

Anyway, I fish him out of the pond to save him. He doesn't try to put up a fight as I hold him (thinking he's just exhausted from being in there for who knows how long). I notice that both of his front legs look a bit off. The front left one is swollen and he keeps it curled up under him, and the right front leg is stuck out straight at a weird angle. A this point I think that they are both broken or the left one is broken and the right is dislocated; the only thing I can think of that could do that are the fish, but toads being toxic I also thought that to be unlikely.

I have since bought a little enclosure to keep him in, with all the fixings (just no hide, due to he wasn't moving much, and the enclosure is small to keep his food with in range). Of which his food includes small crickets and pill bugs.

At first he hardly ate, but now he just gobbles up the crickets (haven't had time to catch pill bugs). His right leg looks better, but his left is still messed up. It is swollen/puffy, kinda red (like it has inflammation), and I can't really distinguish his toes from his "hand", as if they were missing (even after picking him up to check him out, he does struggle a tad now).

Basically just looking for tips, info, suggestions, to his care.

    Will post photos later.

Agreed, best to let a vet take a look and say for sure what is wrong with him
