    Default Help! Strange attitude

Hi, i have a male african bullfrog and he's 2 years old.

Usually he ate coackroches and others, but this last year i started feeding him with only mice.

I know its bad for obesity, but i gave him only 1 mouse every 20 days. is this bad?

Now my frog is quite passive...he cant catch mouse like before...he seems slow and fat...

    can u help me?

Feeding ONLY mice, no matter how far apart is bad. Mice are high in fat and low in nutritional value. Your frog is likely feeling the times worth of a poor diet. You should try feeding anything but mice and maybe he'll get up to speed. But it'll take awhile.

If he is sleeping then its fine. He may just be tired. When you feed him his eyes should open. If he's never awake or doesn't open his eyes when eating then Take him to the vet. Put a screen top on the tank. They may not look like they can, but ABFs can really jump, way farther than they seem.

First of all, stop feeding mice. Second, read this article and ensure you are meeting all your frogs needs including humidity and temps: Frog Forum - African Bullfrog - Pyxicephalus adspersus - Care and Breeding. You can cover the screen top with aluminum foil if required to maintain humidity.

As long as frog eats them; you can start offering not dyed night crawlers and roaches gut loaded with cherios, carrots and lettuce (no dog or cat food). If fat and inactive, feed no more than every 3 days until satiation. Don't worry if frog does not show interest in food for a while, it will eat when hungry. Do not forget to offer supplements with food, this guide has some schedule samples: http://www.frogforum.net/food-feeder...schedules.html. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

As grif said, you cover screen top with foil. You can get hydrotherm, plug it into your fogger to worry free humidity and temps.

    Right lol

oh to add - arci - imagine you are on big fat burger diet, good or bad? Or is it ok if you eat that junk every other day and nothing in between?
Same with mice and frogs. They eat junk, then only the matter of time when you will see related problems, they eat healthy and live long and happy life.
