I have 4 red eyed tree frogs and have recently started to hear them croak so I know I have males in there, dose this mean there are females to or will males still call if there are no females? Dose it mean they are ready to breed aswell? I would say the are all between 40cm-50cm thanks
Croaking frogs indicates the males are present and maturing; not that there are females (grow bigger and will lack nuptial pads) in there.
For breeding, it's recommended to time it with their natural breeding cycle from May to November. You need to group house them with 3 males per 2 females ratio. To condition frogs, first lower humidity around 30-50% to simulate a dry season and feed them well for couple months. Then follow it up with a heavy rainy season simulated inside a rain chamber. Timing rain chamber with it a local storm (atmospheric pressure front) will help trigger breeding. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Thank you very much will keep an eye on the pads over the next few weeks and see if I can sex them! Fingers crossed I have females as well as males
