Thanks to the great instructions from DerangedChipmunk's many threads I have a fire belly toad terrarium set up. My toads arrive Thursday.
It's a 29 gallon tank. I'm using the Tetra Reptofilter waterfall filter.
The plants on the wall from left to right are: Asparagus Fern 'Plumosa', Pilea 'Aluminum', Pilea 'Ellen' which you can't really see because of the lighting, Cryptanthus 'Red Star', and Holly Fern
The plants on the land from left to right are Korean Rock Fern, Shaggy Shield Fern and Pteris Fern 'Albo Linneata' (in the front).
The aquatic plants from left to right are Bacopa, Cryptocoryne wenditii, and Anubias (behind the ramp)
It should be interesting to see how they do. The ground substrate is wet all the time due to the water wicking up the landscape fabric. If I were to do this again I would use a fiberglass screening over the false bottom, and make the false bottom a little higher.
The set-up decor looks nice congrats ! You need to lower the water level or raise the soil so it is above the max water level on the false bottom. No soil should be in contact with the water in there. Wet soil will become a bog and a breeding place for bacteria and other pathogens .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Lisa,
Very pretty

Looks great Lisa!! Nice job! I agree with Carlos, if your substrate is too wet, lower you water level to about an inch below the false bottom, it will help prevent wicking.

Thanks for the advice. My husband put a couple shims under the right side of the stand so I could lower the water a bit. The problem I have is that the filter has a minimum water line. I don't know how important that is (I don't want to burn out the pump). When I made the platform I thought it was going to be fine, but I should have made it higher. Now the water is lower under the land side. I'll see if it dries out over the next couple days. If not I may remove the substrate and add a layer of larger pebbles for better drainage. That will be messy, so I'm hoping not to have to do it.
My frogs are now going to be shipped next week so that gives me some time to figure things out.
