I just purchased another Pacman recently. He seems to be doing fine. I'm very obsessive about their enclosures and I'm having a difficult time heating this critter keeper.
I purchased a uth hermit crab version but it's not doing the trick. The humidity is fine but the heat just isn't what I want it to be.
Any tips for heating these plastic enclosures. The che I usually use makes me very nervous.
Thanks

Zoo Med's Reptitherm Mini (4 watts) can be used with plastic critter keepers. However, I'm not sure if the watts are higher than your present hermit crab heater to make a difference. Another option is to get an incandescent desk lamp with a 40-60 watt red bulb. Then you adjust the distance from the bulb to the critter keeper until you get the temp inside the critter keeper to 82F. Also, you can place the critter keeper(s) inside a larger tank and adjust the parameters of that. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
those 4W heatmat are worthless imo! and it is specially true for pacman.. you really don't want to put heat, under a frog that will burrow to escape heat!
What you need is a simply basking bulb.. try 20W (you can get anything from the hardware store... same as exo/zoomed brand for a quarter of the price, and it should be good enough. Aim it in the same corner you have the water dish and you're good to go
Thanks guys. I ended up just setting up her large enclosure and putting the critter keeper inside.
That way the space is smaller for her and the temp and humidity is already regulated.
