hi all,
my baby pac-man frog eat a toilet paper
could be dangerous?
Well it's paper so it's obviously hard to digest. I would take him to a vet so he doesn't die of impaction depending on how much he ate would depend on what i would do though ( If he ate a ton i would probably go right now.
not only that but the amount of chemicals used in processing most toilet paper may cause issues.. but how did he get to the toilet paper to begin with? Or do you mean paper towels like to clean with?
Okay, unless the frog is acting sick I wouldn't immediately take it to a vet... They can get stressed out very easily, so an unnecessary vet trip can do more harm than good (plus, there is probably very little a general dog/cat vet will be able to do for a frog. It's good to try and find a reptile/exotics vet in your area).
How much did the frog eat? Most toilet paper won't hold together well in water, so unless the frog ate a big amount, my guess is this probably won't cause an impaction. They end up accidentally eating leaves and stuff in the wild, so a small amount of undigestible material probably won't be fatal.
All you can do is watch him for symptoms of impaction or poisoning (if the paper was perfumed or treated with antibacterial stuff that might be an issue).
Also, how did the frog get toilet paper anyway?

I was going to ask the same thing, how much did he eat?
For now, just keep him well hydrated with a nightly warm dechlorinated water soak. This will help soften his stool and allow it to pass easier. Tonight I would put a few drops of plain honey in the soak and soak for 15 minutes, followed by a plain dechlorinated water soak to rinse off the excess honey. This will help to keep his feces moving through. The less likely he gets backed up, the more likely it could pass through.
Please keep us updated. I hope it passes easily.

thanks to all,
i was using a setup asian, cleaning the box i put a substrate of moist toilet paper in the meantime, i took the opportunity to feed him, and he eat a toilet paper.
immediately i tried to open his mouth but it's too late.. he swallowed.
the toilet paper wasn't chemically treated or scented. What worries me is, that he very small (3 cm), the piece will have eat was as the nail of a thumb (as the size of his head).
You may want to consider using either paper towels or cocofiber for his substrate... They really like to burrow in cocofiber. Plus, if this is your first frog, the cocofiber might be better since it is cleaner. That sounds strange, but if you use paper as substrate it needs to be changed very often or bacteria will start to grow in it. It also makes it more difficult for the frog to regulate its own temperature if it can't burrow.
If you don't change the type bedding you use, you should get a separate feeding container so this doesn't happen again.
