    Default Venus Fly Traps?

My son who is 9 is the proud owner of a White's Tree Frog. He has recently been asking of we can put a real Venus Fly Trap in her cage. My first fear was that the plant would hurt her but then again, she is much bigger than anything a fly trap would consume... then I questioned the environment and whether or not is would be conducive for the plant in the fist place. That seems to check out okay... not perfect but close enough that I think the plant would live. I could not find anything to indicate that the plant may be poisons to amphibians. Does anyone have any experience with this? I do not want to do anything that could potentially put his frog in harms way. On a side note: I would just get him the plant to live in the window sill but I fear our cats would eat it. O_o

Here is an excellent article to care for your son's frog: Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea. A commonly missed need is providing for an 85F basking spot.

The frog will be fine with the plant; but it could land on it during a jump and trample it. The issue will be the humidity, with the White's frog needing 50-65%, which is lower than what the plant needs. You can still try it; but ensure the plant's soil is moist at all times. Also, VFTs require a wintering over period and will need to remove the plant from the enclosure to provide that.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

You don't want to put a VFT in a white's tank. The requirements are wrong for it and the frogs will destroy it. Also, as Carlos mentioned, VFT's require a dormancy period, which would require you to remove the plant from the tank.
