Thumbs up I love my new little girl(guy?)

I got a three month old chilean rose tarantula. I have no idea how to tell the gender, but she has been very sweet. I do not really handle her, just give her food and the occasional "*pap-pap* Daddy loves you" on the butt (which she doesn't seem to mind at all.
When I got her the pet store said she was too young to be accurately sexed, though I hope for female, these are still incredible animals.

I have a mexican red knee. Phoebe is very sweet too and sometimes gives me laughs! Example: I gave her a live pinky afew weeks ago. She reacted by climbing the wall of her home and staying there!

When I introduced mine to her new home, she just stayed on the wall for a very long time, until I gave some moss a misting. Then she went and hid in her half-log.
It's amazing how amusing they can be.

Phoebe's grump attacks are funny too. A 'grump attack' is when she kicks hair. I dont take her seriously tho I do respect her mood and leave her alone.
She sleeps too. It takes abit of gentle nudging to wake her up. I wish I could tell when or if my mantids sleep.

Indeed! I have wanted a tarantula since I was about 2, and now that I'm 21 I can make my own decisions lol. But ask and you shall recieve (some low quality cellphone pics). She is either three or four months, I don't remember :X

I'm growing two succulents in there with her. And I've decided to name her Megan Wallaby

You were most certainly mislead on her age. At 3-4 months a Rosie probably wouldn't even be the size of your thumb nail, she could quite possibly be a couple years old. If you can get a shot of the ends of the palps and one of the underside( between the first pair of book lungs more specifically) I can take a stab at the sex for you. The only way to tell 100% is checking a molt

I highly recommend ordering a copy of this book. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/076413...-1&pi=SL75

Soooo much great info to be found in there. Its considered to be the #1 book on captive care of tarantulas

Also it would be a good idea to increase the depth of your substrate, you only want the gap between the top of the substrate and the top of the enclosure to be 1x-1.5x the T's leg span, for terrestrials at least. Their body's aren't designed to take falls and could suffer injury

Wow, thanks for that info. I had thought she looked a little large, but must have been previously owned. I handled her once to get her out of the container and into her home, but she was very relaxed about it. I had heard they couldn't take falls very well, so I was cautious not to jump or do anything to fast for her? safety.
I'll try to get a picture of her underside, especially if she goes on the glass, like she does on occasion.
But she may be ready for a molt! I deposited some crickets last night and some are still roaming. Unless she was very recently fed before I got her!

A molt is a possibility but it could be a while off. Rosies are notorious for going on looooong periods of fasting. Some times even longer than a year! They are a super slow growing species with an extra slow metabolism, 1 adult cricket a week will be more than enough food for her. The author of that book had a website with alot of the info on it and a whole page dedicated specifically for rosies. I'll see if I can find it and post a link for you

Indeed, I do. It's a small one, but I do keep it in there as suggested.

Here, I got two photos that you requested, though I'm not sure you can make much out of it, at least on the one of her/his underside.

Any guesses on the gender? I am leaning more towards female with both my observations and statistics of male:female ratio at pet shops :P
