    Unhappy One-eyed toad

    Hi!

I have three FBT's, Frisky, blitz and wink. Wink is the frog i'm worried about.
He only has one eye and he looks VERY skinny. All my other frogs are plump and healthy
but wink is very skinny. I am thinking it's because he can't catch the crickets as well as the
other frogs, and by the time he does see one, most of them are gone because the others ate
most of them already. What are some solutions to this without putting wink in a separate container?
I don't want to move him around every time i need to feed them.

    I will post pics later

I feed my frogs using tongs - well, chopsticks, actually. That way I can monitor who gets what and how much. If wink won't take food from tongs, you may need to put him in a second container so he can eat and regain his strength. I wouldn't transfer him back and forth for feeding, just let him live alone for a few days. You could also try lightly dusting his crickets with Fluker's Repta+Boost to boost his appetite if it has diminished. Get well soon, Mr. Wink!

Hi Helena! I'm sorry; but Wink is a "special needs" handicapped frog and should be by himself .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

    Default One-eyed toad

I agree with Carlos. Even if he fattens up in a separate area, he'll never be able to compete for food with the other frogs.

I do use the multi-vitamin powder every time I feed. So would it be okay If I just use chopsticks or tweezers? I do not want to move wink as I do not have another location to put him right now.

I chose chopsticks cuz mine get so aggressive that they sometimes grab the sticks and the food so I didn't want them to hurt themselves on metal tweezers. I had assumed that the feeding tongs had rubber tips for the same purpose?

I have a one eyed toad too. Named him/her Odin, lol. Seems to be able to keep up with the other frogs, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for mine too.Name: 1926886_10202571307141705_1231139515_n.jpg

I use blunt tweezers to feed my toads when I notice that more crickets are drowning than getting eaten

I think a 12x12x12 might be sufficient size to keep a close eye on him/her when you're ready. I'm sure you can get a deal on Kijiji or something. Sorry about your little froggy

One of my fire-bellied toads started going blind a few days after I brought it home from the pet store. It got noticeably thinner than it's tank mate, who is a bully. I fed them each a superworm and the bully (a male) ate his and stole the worm out of the other frog's mouth. I now feed them separately, about a half-inch of water out of the big tank goes into a critter keeper and I put the male in there and let the other eat in peace.
