Default Lowest possible temp for Whites tree frogs

Hi guys, just a quick question....My heat went out and I just wondered what is the lowest safest temp for my Whites? Right now we are okay, our electricity works but i'm just preparing in case the furnace can't be fixed.

Sorry Patsy ! Would try and keep it no lower than around 70F. Since you've got electricity; a dome with dimmer and a ceramic heat emitter can work wonders heating up an enclosure. Can use aluminum foil all around it to prevent heat loss from tank; but do keep it away from plastic. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

This has been a cross my fingers concern of mine also. Just South East of us, tens of thousands of people have lost power. We do have an emergency kerosene heater but I don't know if it would keep that area of the house above 70. I'd probably have to move the frogs to a smaller quarantine tank and keep that in a smaller room that can be kept warmer.

Thanks Mentat, I knew you would have the answer! Luckily the repair man came within a half hour and got it up and running again.

Proudpapa, I've been thinking about you guys in the east, I've heard about the power outages. This winter has truly just sucked! We've had a few minor power outages for only about an hour or so but it still puts me into emergency mode. I have bought all the hand and foot warmers that my Walgreens sells, figuring I can somehow use them to keep the critters warm if I need to. As soon as the power goes out I fill up the bath tub with hot water to give us at least one room that would be nice and toasty for awhile. I also fill up water bottles with the hot water, figuring I can put them around the tanks, under the blankets, anything to keep them warm. Usually by the time everyone is covered and tucked in, the power comes back on LOL! It's good practice though.

Patsy, it's funny you mention hand warmers. I have a big box of them that were meant to go on a school field trip that never happened and was wondering if they could be used in a Frog emergency.

I would hold on to them! I think in a worst case situation it would be worth a try. I also have bearded dragons and these would be perfect, just wrap them up with a warmer and a blanket.

We were very fortunate not to lose power in the ice storm this week. A lot of my family has been without power for days now. I always keep spare deli cups in case of that emergency so I can transport my frogs to somewhere warm. The advantage of living in a big city is that is very rare that then entire city would lose power, so there is always somewhere I can take them that is warm.
