    Default Worried about Peggy

Peggy hasn't really eaten much lately. She refuses nightcrawlers and the very occasional prekilled mouse, but I think she's been eating some crickets behind my back. Her eyes are sometimes partially shut, but she moves around about as much as a Pacman frog should. Can someone help me out here?

Her eyes are shut while awake at night? That does not sound OK. Have you checked her enclosure parameters to ensure all are OK and the gauges are reading right? How can frog eat crickets behind your back ?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

What I mean is that she may have been eating some crickets, but I just haven't actually seen her eat. I'll measure the parameters and stuff ASAP.

In the winter they tend to slow down on feeding. She is probably sensing the weather changes. Any other odd behavior?

Nothing really beyond what I already mentioned. What are your thoughts on this, Grif?

Sometimes if the humidity is low they close their eyes. They also will close their eyes when their is an underlying problem. You may want to have a fecal exam done and have her looked at just incase.

I soaked Peggy and moistened her substrate and she seemed to perk right up. I'll try feeding her again in a day or two.

It is very important to keep their environment moist and the humidity up.

She looks healthier, but she's still all fat and lazy. Anyway, she's still refusing food. Any thoughts?

Have you noticed any redness on her toes or belly?

Sometimes they will refuse food during the cold months. Some of mine will burrow down and not come up anywhere from a week to a month. As long as they don't lose weight they are fine. Just keep an eye on her.

I checked yesterday, and there's no redness on her toes/belly. She hasn't lost weight, so should I just offer her food every few days or so until she finally decides to eat?

Should I try keeping her in really shallow water and see if she eats then?

Okay, so how long should the "Winter blues" last for a Pacman frog, exactly?

Winter blues last as long as the frog still senses that it is here. Offer a couple times a week. Try different things to see if she is interested. As long as she doesn't lose weight she is fine.
