Hello i will be making a 5 gallon vivarium to house a pair of PDFs for a few months.I will be getting a 20h as well as the items to fill it in a couple of months. But for now i am in the process of setting up the viv and i thought a pair of PDFs would be fine in there for a while.Ive never owned PDFs so im fairly new to this whole thing. What are some cool begginer PDFs that will be active and fun to watch? Also would 3 or 4 thumbnails be fine in there for their whole lives? Thanks
Hello and welcome Amdrew .
I have 5 frog species and so far I feel my darts are the easiest. I currently have Ranitomeya imitator Varaderos and Dendrobates tinctorius Cobalts. The most important thing with these little frogs is keeping the humidity high / accurate and keeping the temps right (mid 70's). The other thing about dart frogs is keeping small insects like springtails and being able to make flightless fruit fly cultures, or being able to buy the cultures.
Here are some nice articles by Joshsfrogs:

Thumbnail dart frogs, though tiny, like a bunch if space. Depending on the exact species you choose, one pair will do fine in a 10-20 gallon tank. Two pair will tolerate a 20-30 gallon tank but larger is better. They can become territorial. A nice lush vivarium and hiding areas will keep them happier .
I think Petco is still having their $1 per gallon sale on fish tanks. I like the Eco Terra's best but so long as your tank closes tight, a fish tank will work well. They can be escape artists, lol .
Let us know what you choose .
