I got some really cool pieces of driftwood and branches from a friend, but they came from outside..
so what do I need to do to be able to use them in the vivarium?

Soak them in warm water for a few hours. 24 hours, if you're really OC and skeptical. Pour hot water all over it then scrub with a brush to remove debris, dried soil and loose bark then rinse it with hot water again. Let it cool and dry off. Do not boil or use bleach/soap

Ok thanks so much! Also my aunt gave me a bird branch it's a spiral pice and it's Lima root? Or something like that says they condition birds...is that safe too? Since it said it conditions birds I was not sure... And is there any type of wood I should not use? (Tree types)

Washing in hot water will help kill some pathogens and clean out dirt; but will not sterilize them unless boiled for at least 10 minutes. If you want them sterile; can follow the hot water wash/soak with a one hour bake in oven at 250F. Let branches cool in oven overnight and they are ready to go.

Driftwood has been cured by exposure to sun and salt water and is normally safe. Manzanita branches are used both in bird cages and with herps. Have not heard of "spiral pice" or "lima root" before. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

You do not want to use any soft woods. No pine, cedar, ect. Birch, maple, oak are safe. Manzanita or mopani are also safe.

The root for birds i probably would not use. Most of those are made from grapevine and will eventually rot under humid conditions.
