    Default Bromeliad planting (newbie question)

Am I right in thinking that when planting my brom in my terrarium I don't need to plant in a soil, I can just jam the roots into cracks or driftwood etc...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Bromeliad planting (newbie question)

Correct, they are epiphytes and will receive their nutrition from the water they get misted with.

What is the best way to attach them to a background?

You can use zip ties, thread, super glue or fishing line. Any of those will work.

Depends on what species you get. Crypthantus, Puya, Dyckia, Ananas and some species of the genus Bromelia are terrestrial species. Tillandsias and neoregelias would be your best bet for epiphytic bromeliads as those are the readily available species for use in indoor tanks

Zip ties worked great for me ! I cut the ends to a point and pushed the ends into the background until the broms had mounted, able to support themselves. Worked like a charm. The support had to remain even after I put the frogs in. If there is an exposed rip tie lock be sure to file it after you cut it ...they are sharp ! Don't want any accidents.
