Good to hear! Did you end up seeing a vet?

I actually never did get to see a vet...no one local would see him and with my work schedule its nearly impossible to travel. But I managed. . He's doing so much better. See for yourselves. Frogzilla will be back to normal in no time at all. So glad he healed.

Wow, that is a great improvement, congrats ! From what I gather; you only treated with Melafix?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

He is beautiful, and are you sure he isn't a SHE??? From the first pics it looks like you had regular dirt or topsoil of some sort. If so, I would change that to eco earth. The soil might have some kind of bacterial component in it that got into the moist membrane eye area. Just a thought.

And thank for coming to FF for help. Another great end to a bad beginning.

I started with the melafix and ended with just lots of keeping the eyes clean and pedilite soaks. Whatever I did I'm greatful it worked!! I'm not sure if he is a she... I tried to make that determination when we first found him and fell upon he. Do you think she?? I'm not 100% certain how you can tell. And the substrate was a top soil and after this we were already setting up for eco earth. No more dirt!! Never want to have to do this again. This forum definitely saved my toads eyes. I wouldn't have had s clue what to do without all the advice I got here.

Here's a link to nuptial pads http://www.frogforum.net/toads/4786-nuptial-pads.html also if you cup him/her in your hands with slight pressure does he/she vibrate or chirps? If so, it's a boy.

I have never heard a chirp from he/she. I'll have to check out the pads. That's so cool. Thanks for sharing!! I'll have to do some renaming if he turns out to be a she. Frogzilla doesn't seem like a very feminine name. Lol.

Is Toady better? I'm in Akron OH and we do have a great reptile vet here in Barberton; 2-3 hr drive for you. I hope she's better. Reading and seeing her made me so anxious!

Her position looks like she is shedding. Does she respond if you touch her?

I didn't want to touch her since I didn't know what she was doing. She moves her head a bit if I get close to the tank. I've never seen her do this.

Have you seen her shed before?
Has she been puffed out for the 24 hour period?
When was the last time she soaked?

You might want to slightly warm up a little frog safe water and put her in it to soak if it looks like she is trying to shed. She might be a little on the dry side and her shed isn't coming off like it should.

She's been puffed since last night. She soaked a good bit yesterday morning. No. I've never seen her shed.

When they shed they stand in that position, move their bellies in and out like they're gonna purge, rub ther back legs & front legs on themselves to pull the skin off and eat it. Other than a shed process not sure what is going on with her. Wish I could help you more.

Sounds kindda gross... lol. Hope that's what she's doing. If there is no improvement later today I'll make a warm bath for a soak. Thanks.
