Got my pacman yesterday as some may know (sphagnum it came with I put just in the corner it likes now surrounding him/her which is situated under the heat source) and was stressing out jumping at the sides of the tank which would be normal as its a new environment, through out last night settled and today was settled but still not eating should I leave more? what do I do? thanks. here he/she is now
Give him/her some more time, it can take a few days for a frog to adjust to it's new environment.
right will do how long can they go without food?
That depends on the size of the frog. It's not good for them to go without food for long, but letting him settle should only take a few days. Also, the moss around the frog can be a problem during feeding time, if he accidently ingests a piece, he can become impacted and can be unable to pass the piece of moss, wich in turn will make you give honey baths, cause stress, administer mineral oil if bathing doesn't help or could even result in needing an operation. That's the reason most people on here just use eco-earth, since that contains such small pieces, it's easy for frogs to pass when they accidently ingest it during feeding.
right I do have a thick layer of eco earth in there so il take the moss out and also cant I leave that in and just tong feed it
You'l have to be really carefull then, especially if he's in the middle of the heap of moss. It's always a risk, the frog can miss or the frog can ingest a piece while swallowing the prey. I like the look of moss aswell, but I steer clear of it because it's dangerous.
iv took it out mate thought best to be on the safe side, il try him/her later with food if it doesn't eat it will be 3 days
ignore that mate just tryed it now and it ate 2 multi vit dusted crickets but thats all it seemed to want so il try tonight but glad its ate and did see what you ment with gettin the substrate in there mouths glad i did remove it and i didnt tong feed it i just poked the crickets towards it and removed the hind legs will they get use to how you feed them?
