    Default Can't find them!

Hi I have a small problem.

I am a new tree frog owner. I just got 6 tiny babies on Saturday. They are all 1/2 and inch to 1 inch. Their home is doing great. Temp and humidity are good.

My problem is I can't find them. I am almost positive they are in there. I was careful when I opened the shipping containers. I know I saw the frogs go in. I have a good top and I keep a rock on it just to be sure it does not come off. The crickets I have fed them have disapeared.

I am worried. If I can't find them, how do I know they are ok? When I clean their home, how do I find them to make sure the stay in their home and don't get out?

I even have have a blue night light. I know they are nocturnal. But I have seen no movement at night.

What flavor frogs? And they are most likely hiding. Half the time I can never find my mantellas. I only see them at feeding time, if I am lucky lol

Look high on the glass, normally towards the back. If they couldn't escape, they are hiding until they feel more comfortable and secure. Frogs normally take a couple weeks to acclimate.

My 2 RETF hide in random places each day. They typically are on the leaf of a plant or pressed into dark corner to hide out for the day. I am sure they are in there and will turn up. Froggies are freaking Ninjas.

    Hi ,
    Welcome to Frog Forum

Congratulations on your new frogs ! I bet you are very excited

They're ....there - hiding .....adjusting. It's hard on them.

May I suggest that your small frogs be transferred into a QT set-up.
This is so very important !!!!
It's a is simply......... small ( say 10 gallon tank). It's to help them get acclimated
One in which the top is suited to help maintain proper heat and humidity levels.
You could cover three sides of the tank to help them feel more secure.
It should be kept in a low traffic area; w/out any light at all --for 12 hours at night -until they are adjusted .

The benefit of this is to monitor :
    1) their food intake ( very small frogs in a lg enclosre could have trouble finding their food)
    2) their poop
    3)their behavior
    4) and most importantly if they are well
( enabling you to identify a frog that might be ill or have parasites).

    Best, Lynn

All my tree frogs play hide-n-seek. Thinking about changing their names to Waldo. Just take caution when you open and close the lid/door when changing water, removing poo, putting in/out feeder bugs.....

My retf hide all the time I rarely see them on the day cycle and at night I often see only 1 .. I think my tank is a little over planted though .. Maybe twice a week I catch a glimpse of both .. If the tank is tight then don't worry to much ..

Even my American green tree frogs seem to escape my attention half the time and there not little like yours

If you have any caves, look in there-after I relocated my frog cage, one of my green tree frogs hid in there for a while.
Or you could check the undersides of leaves.
