So I've been trying to feed my FB Toads that I've had for a week. But each time I take them out to eat, they show no interest in eating - but plenty in trying to escape! Any tips for feeding?
I used to take mine out and feed them in a separate container, but they never ate very much because they were too interested in making a break for it. So, when I redid their terriarium, I set up a feeding station-a tall dish sunk into the ground. I sprinkle calcium powder on the bottom of the dish and drop food into there. I have an occassional cricket get out, but the frogs are good at hunting it down. They eat better because they are in their own environment and now I have 7 very chubby little boys and girls!
I feed my fire-bellies outside their enclosure. They actually will voluntarily climb into my hands. So give it time.
I feed mine in the enclosure and I've never had any issues. You are feeding live feeders, and ones that they can eat, right?
I feed mine out of their tank, and they look forward to it. They will get used to the feeding routine eventually.
I feed mine in their enclosure. They seem to really enjoy the hunt in their own environment. They perk up before I even get a chance to put them in there. So lively.
That's good to hear, I think both ways are fine. feeding them in a separate container is a way of monitoring the feeding/frog condition and keeping their enclosure cleaner. It just takes time for your frog to get used to it.
