    Question worm castings

Can i fertilize my plants in my viv with worm castings. They seem all natural and dont have anything chemicaly in them. I even raise my own worms so this would be great if i could have another use for their castings! ~michael

I use castings mixed 50/50 with coco fibre as the substrate in my vivs. The plants and frogs all seem to love it!

They are called vermicasts where i'm at and they're safe as they are organic. Lining the top with dead leaves adds to a more natural feel.

I have them mixed with sifted coco fiber and sand and my reptiles love it

The castings I use are store bought and I initially got them for the plants. These castings contained some leftover worms/eggs and now I have a small worm colony living in my viv. The worms do a great job of aerating the substrate and eating up dead plant leaves! I also like to think they provide my pacman frog with a bit of company when he's buried deep down in the substrate.

Or a bit of food. (lol) If you take some out its not difficult to make a DIY worm farm, and its a great way to get rid of veggy scraps. ~michael
