I bought some play sand from Lowes today in intention of using it as substrate. I had rinsed it throughly in a bucket before adding it to a nearly empty 20 G tank. Once carefully adding the water to the appropriate level there was quite a bit of debris. Currently my frogs are not in the tank and are in a smaller tank until things get adjusted. Are there any ways to clear this up?
I had also bought API root tabs, but did not notice it was "plus iron." Do these cause any harm to the frogs?
I tried to look around online and found no answers.

So far my guess is some water changes from some substrate that did not get washed. However, if this is just a normal settling process it would be greatly appreciated if I could be told.
Also when would be appropriate to add the frogs? I did an aquarium test and the water seems absolutely golden.

I did a complete water change and carefully added the water. It seems to now be a bit clearer, especially after rinsing my filter pad off with a siphon end.
But is there anything toxic in the sand that I should be wary of, especially if cloudy?
I think I am going to do another change tomorrow and see if it is clear.
Also the original post talked about the root tabs with iron. Are they safe? I know frogs are very sensitive to metal.

You should usually wait for 2-3 days for everything to settle down. Once the water clears up then you could start doing some water testing and conditioning.

Have you tested the water specs? Sounds to me like it's okay but better safe
The water specs look great, but like there is obviously no animals living in there. I feel pretty confident that I got all of the sand cleaned, when doing the water change I siphoned the gravel pretty well. I'm doing one more partial water change (2 L) then adding them back to their home.

Does anyone know if API root tabs plus iron is alright for the frogs? I'm getting my plants soon and want to know if I can use them.
