Would this plant be suitable to use in a toad tank? It is a creeping mosslike plant. My concern is that the toads could become tangled in it. Is this even possible?

It will be fine as long as the soil is not too wet

You can even grown it down a back wall if you use a bit of hygrolon .

Not sure if that will work heather. I don't think it will grow as an epiphyte. Have to look into that one.

You have to keep soil under the hygrolon or between layers of it. I've got some projects going on. So far so good. I'll post more later about it when my trials are complete .

I'm interested to see the results of this. Especially with such a shallow medium for the root structure to grow in.

Don't get me wrong, I hope it is successful. I just always think that there is a reason I have 6" of substrate in my enclosures and there is a reason that pots for plants are 4" deep on average. Maybe the roots will grow horizontally, but I would think that it may cause problems long term.

Think epiphytes when using hygrolon or epiweb. Dischidia, some species of ferns like macgravia, some peperomias and about a grillion others I can't think of because my brain froze 20 minutes ago. Lol

Heather, if that hygrolon works let me know. That would make for an awesome tank. Info on this plant says that a strand pressed into soil will root, so maybe as it grows up the hygrolon it will actually root. Very interested in how your experiment works out.

Most plants will propagate by cuttings like that. The question is whether the root structure will be able to grow in such a shallow substrate layer. I would believe that over time, the plant would suffer.
