    Default ATTENTION/quarantine/testing frogs

Getting your frogs tested ,will sadly, need to become more commonplace and even routine!
All buyers need to ASK the breeder --- big or small , at shows , online or at the brick and mortar retail stores.

Know your breeder , be sure the individual you are obtaining a frog from came from one who is following proper husbandry protocols.

All buyers need to ask: " Has this frog been tested for the following"

    1) Ranavirus- test is done by a swab and /or feces
    2) Chytrid fungus (B. dendorobatidis)- test is done by a swab

If the frog(s )you are buying have not been tested.. it becomes the frog owners responsibility to protect your collection as well as protect the private collections of others. Infestation can even be spread by sharing plants with a friend!

If you own a frog read about and learn about these diseases, including coccidia ( not listed above).

    Proper quarantine
is a must for ALL frogs -------- for 30 days ---YES minimum - 30 days !!!!
New frogs should NEVER never, never be put directly into their permanent enclosure or with a tank mate prior to QT !
Understand how to disinfect an enclosure-- before, after and during QT
If using disinfection products- read and clearly understand the instructions! Follow the directions !
Use gloves - between- each enclosure!
Disinfect all plants and enclosure decoration.
Don't even think about moving that plant from one enclosure to another w/ out a bleach dip!

Having nearby herp vet is essential !
    Find a vet http://www.arav.org/

    They make it very easy
    RAL - Test : Reptile

Like the ownership of any other pet, frogs cost money to care for properly and come with responsibilities !

    Your welcome ,Gail

NO members should EVER be uncomfortable or embarrassed regarding discussions about their sick frog(s) .

Members should be PROUD of having their frog(s) tested.

Anyone know about the African dwarf frog? My female has got a very swollen eye and it's starting to show some red in the cloudyness. It's only the one eye but it looks uncomfortable. I feed them frozen blood worms, as I cannot find live black worms locally.

You don't simply see the patterns and overlook them however, you make a plunge and https://awkwardmedia.ca/ profit from them before every other person does.
