    Default Humidity Issue

I have been working all darn weekend on my big tank that houses my Milk Frogs, I can not keep the humidity levels up and its frustrating the heck out of me. The Temp is good, holding right at 85 Degrees, but I cant get the humidity to stay above 20% no matter what I do. Ill mist it and it climbs up to about 50% but then drops back down again, I want it between 65% and 75%. Now from over-misting the substraint is starting to get to wet. I just covered the entire top with plastic wrap leaving a couple vent holes to see if that will help bring it up. I have seen what a member "Sidius" did with his top (plexiglass), I may try that

Being that I cant go to sleep until I know that all my babies are safe, I'm sitting up watching the humidity gauge on this tank and the humidity has already risen to 40% so I am feeling somewhat better but not enough to go to bed yet.

Hi Gary! Can you compare your humidity gauge with another unit? Is it digital or analog?
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

    Good Morning folks,
The gauge that I am currently using is a "PETCO" a analog gauge, I am going to go buy a digital Humidity Gauge this morning as soon as stores open here. Over night, with the top completely sealed other than one hole for the heat bulb, I am only able to achieve 40% Humidity (according to the gauge). The tank size is 4ft long x 13in wide x 20in high, my Temp Guage is Digital, I am using a large Heat Pad affixed to the side glass along with a 150w Infrared Heat Bulb with dimmer switch on top. I do have this tank partitioned off with nothing on the other side just until my Milk Frogs grow larger as recommended to me from the supplier.

UPDATE: Ya know, I am a retired Aircraft Mechanic (30 Years), the first thing they taught me in school was check the simple things first and always, when in doubt , replace the gauges. Well with that being said, I swapped out my gauge this morning with another one after yall mentioned it and my humidity is perfect, apparently my gauge was bad...what a dope. Thanks for your help guys.

The drama continues- I bought a EXO-Terra Combo Digital Therm/Hum Meter w/Probe, to test it I placed it in the tank with my already exsisting Digital Thermometer and an Analog Thermometer, so I have 3 Thermometers in one tank going on, (2 Dig and 1 Analog), they all read something different and the 2 digital ones have a10 degree difference in Tempurture, how do you know which one to believe?

All my Probes are in the same place, now do I have them placed correctly? I don't know. I have the probes all placed in the very middle of the tank, and the analog is placed right with the probes. Ill tell ya, It makes me nervous and unhappy, 3 devices (2 Digital and 1 Anolog) and each one has a considerable difference in Temp and Humidity) . I don't know that my friends are Being correctly taken care of. This is starting to bother me now, Aircraft Mechanic by trade. now a Quality Assurance Specialist, and perfectionist, I need my Temps and Humidity right !

What is everyone else using, type, brand and placement please, DO YOU TRUST YOUR DEVICE?

    Hi Gary,

I use an accurite digital thermometer/hygrometer that I found at Walmart. Because I like having backup for everything, I also use a Raytek MT 6 mini temperature gun. Both measure the exact same temperature inside the viv. A plus for the gun is that it can be used over multiple vivs. The Raytek I found online at amazon. I know this is frustrating. Good luck to you.

    Default Humidity Issue

I had the same dilemma with different gauges, so I gave up and bought a ceramic tower room heater and set it to the temp I needed.

I hope you get yours situated. How are your frogs doing?
