    Default Gray American Tree Frog

The tree frogs that inhabit my front porch, deck, and flower pots have been "singing" to me, and have started making their appearances.

Yesterday, I spotted this one in the hanging flower pots that I have on my front porch. They hang out here every year.

We had an extremely wicked winter in Eastern Kansas this year - it is such a wonder of nature that these frogs can come through it all, and come back to my flower pots year after year.

I don't really know how many I have, exactly, but I do know to look before I water the plants!

I think so too. I love these little frogs. They are not afraid of us at all, and they sit around our front porch or deck many times while we're sitting outside too. They started laying eggs in a tub we have on the front porch that collects rain water, and have done so two years in a row now. We've even seen them plop into the water and swim around - not sure whether that is part of laying the eggs, or just for fun.

That's so cool. I would never get any work done if I had round my house. Thanks for sharing.

Late yesterday evening we were sitting on the front porch, and I heard calls from at least 4 distinct tree frogs. There were some way out in our yard and in our horse pasture too.

I happened to get another photo of one little guy lounging in an open spot on a shelf where I have flowers and things. We actually got to see him make his call, so I know it's a male (if I understand the literature right, the females don't "sing"). I could not catch him calling with my camera, but it's cool to have a photo of it anyway.
