Hi,
yesterday, I was able to get a hold of six 5 months old Pipa parva They´re pretty active, always looking for food.
So cute
After a few hours, one toad tried to amplex another- hopefully some of them turn out to be females...
Amphibians kept:
9.10.3 Hymenochirus boettgeri
2.4.0 Xenopus laevis
0.1.0 Hypselotriton orientalis
3.0.0 Hyloxalus azureiventris
4.1.0 Pipa parva
2.1.2 Bombina orientalis
1.0.0 Ceratophrys cranwelli
2.2.0 Bombina orientalis
Congrats; those are very nice. Like how the front digits end in little star shaped pads .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Yes; in German, they are also called "Sternfingerkröte"
For those who haven´t read information about the genus Pipa yet: the fingertips are highly sensitive organs of touch that help Pipa species to find food in the often muddy water bodies they originate from. It´s very interesting to watch them exploring the sand.

Very adorable, I love my Albino Claw Frogs...congrats.
Hi,
the Pipas are doing great. Unfortunately, there is only one female, but they already spawned. They are living in a 30 gal tank with a few neon tetras, six Otocinclus and five Corydoras habrosus. Unlike ADFs, those little guys don´t feel uneasy if fish are present
The tank
"Pregnant" female

Wow, never seen this species before. Cool toads. Is the last photo a female with eggs on her back?
Xenopus fraseri (1;1;0)

Hi,
yes, the eggs sink into the female´s skin. After a few weeks the tadpoles (P. parva and other species) or froglets (e.g. in P. pipa) hatch, so the reproduction behaviour is very interesting. Besides, they´re very active and brave. All in all, they make great pets.
