If put a bird bath on the ground in my garden will gray tree frogs lay eggs in it? Earlier this year I found a beautiful female on the wall next to my garden.
I hope she comes back next year. Its too late now of course. I will do it next spring. I think she was drawn there because I had put an oothecae to hatch in the garden and had many baby mantis babies in the plants. I plan on doing it again next year.
Yes you just might get tads. Remember to not use tap water and to watch temperature of water. Bird baths tend to be a little shallow and sometimes get too hot or dry up. Snakes, birds and pets may feast on the tads or parents. It may not be necessary to sit bath on the ground if there are plants nearby for parents to jump from. I often find tads in my containers even as late as October in NC.
Mosquito Dunks will do the work and if you crunch them up, they'll last you all summer if you sprinkle only a tiny amount; no more than the size of 2 grains of rice. It goes a long way. I haven't had Dunk granules hurt my tads but I usually find them in a 10-gallon water trough.
