Default which is better for heating a 25 gallon tank?

Just moved my frog to a 25 gallon tank. put a small heating pad on the tank and it seems to not be working. the temp been at 60. needs to be at 80. the heating pad is working. i have another small heating pad and was going to put that one on the other side of the tank but i found i will need a surge protector and small extention cord. looked at the prices and prices for bigger heating pads and it would come to the same amount but here's the prob now. the medium heating pads are for 30-40 gallont anks and the small for 10-20 gallon tanks. so it seems to me to be better off using 2 small heating pads but also my frog is in the basement so i'm thinking though the tank is 5 gallons smaller, i should get a medium heating pad. which os better?

Heat pads are designed to be used under tanks (can't with frogs) and are very inefficient when placed on their sides. If you've got a screen top on enclosure, get yourself a Fluker's dome (large if it will fit) with built-in dimmer and a 150W Ceramic Heat Emitter. That will raise the temperature more than needed; just use dimmer to adjust the heat output and you are done. Good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

I agree with mentat about going for a heat lamp. Unless you have a room that's already pretty warm side mounted uth won't do anything, and even then it doesn't do much.

If you have both a heating pad AND a heat lamp on it, and are only reading 60 degrees, I would check the accuracy of the thermometer you are using. Something doesn't sound right.

if you think even a small heating pad and a heat lamp should be keeping the tank warm then i'm thnking the heat pad is not working 100% the heating pad is over 10 years old. used 10 years ago for a lizard who also used this 25 gallon tank. my frog was in a 10 gallon tank with a different small heating pad and the temp stayed at 80 during the day and dropped to 70 at night i will switch to the newer heating pad and let you know if that solves the problem.

A heating pad in an enclosure with a frog that could burrow over it; is a deadly accident waiting to happen .

any specific brand? I am using zilla and have not noticed any harm to my little guy. I have switched heating pads but still no change even misted the entire tank. it dawned on me however of a post I did oh maybe a month ago that I was thinking of using a stronger watt bulb to keep him warm so I will try that and check my little one's feet. I handle him alot and don't notice him acting hurt. just windering if the stonger bulbs don't work what would you sugguest3? I was thinking the medium heating pad since my room in the basement, colder then the main level so though the tank is 5 gallons smaller then the minimum it would work but if that will harm him..or 2 small heating pads on the back left and right corner of the tank since it's not as strong as a medium heat pad..medium heating pad wouyld be placed in the center. opinions and suggestions are welcome and needed A pic of my tank set up. maybe this will help you all help me Name: SAM_3330.jpg
