Hi Guys ands Gals,
So I now own 3 exo terras, my current RETF Viv, my currently planted viv(no frogs yet) and a brand new 8x8x12 exo terra, the plants only viv I have plans for just waiting to find the frog we are looking for so here is my question, what can live happy and comfortable in this new nano 8x812? I would love for it/them to be Diurnal and colorful, I was thinking maybe a dart or two but before i build it up and plant this small viv I wanted to see what will be happy in there. any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks everyone

Hi Roxy,
All Darts ( even though they are smaller than red eyed tree frogs) need space.
I would suggest all should be kept in a minimum of 18 to 24" high exo terra tanks.
Plus, the screen tops would have to be replaced with glass..........for darts.

I made the same mistake, and thought that a 12x12x12 would be big enough for such small animals. After I bought it and modified it with a 3d background, and after having put in the substrate, and plants, the left over space actually left for the frogs was very very small, just a little but bigger than a small tupper-wear box.
So, I decided to expand the tank, and I extended the tank from a 12x12x12 to a 12x12x28 inch, so the frogs have a lot more space, and it's all vertical (perfect for ranitomeyae)

It's not wasted AT ALL !
Clean it well and save it for a hospital/ quarantine tank.
All newly acquired frogs should be quarantined.

I would use for a hospital/quarantine set-up as Lynn stated. Also, if you like tarantulas, those are good enclosures for arboreal species like Avicularia versicolor .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Thanks guys! I had no idea you could expand an exo terra...this is something I will have to look into for sure! after talking with the kids we have decided to use it for a Venus Fly trap Viv....I hope I can make this work! as for a quarantine tank we have one just for that as it is not set up to be a lasting home for our new house members, again the benefits of having a big enough autoclave system to clean it properly! As for having a tarantula...Ummm.... I prefer to admire them, or any arachnid for that matter from afar! lol they are some beautiful amazing creatures but I am not cut out to have one as a new family member!
thanks again everyone for your input, the kiddos and I really appreciate it!

Get a Tarantula!! what a waste of a tank to not be used for an animal
I bought the nano for a thumbnail dart and it was too small. The now I have a big 18.18.24 which is a bit bigger than needed can expand for a few more frogs when I find someone that carries the same type.
@Frogkimmy I do think a few tarantulas are amazing and I love seeing my friends or pictures of others arachnids...I on the other hand am terrified by them, I do think they are beautiful though
@slimninj4 Yeah I just happen to stumble on this Little nano tank... I was hoping it would work for a Dart or two but after research and some guidance it will be a micro plant terrarium we also have an empty 18x18x24, I think we will build it up for Darts... I am also kind of waiting to see what a certain seller has for sale for sure before we build up the bigger Viv!

Just a general comment on the smaller tanks, haha because I feel much the same it's funny you end up with one and almost nothing is suitably kept: I have found smaller tanks useful for hatchlings or any offspring as temporary housing.
Yeah we may use it just as a holding home while cleaning and such, we have kind of put the nano on hold as we build up the bigger viv for a Dart or two!
