Evening all,
Ordered some live pillow moss and received it earlier this week with some other stuff. It was packed nice, was moist, and brown. Receiving it brown doesn't bother me if that's how it comes but the question is how long before it starts to green up.
Also, it now covers a good part of the bottom of the frograrium and even spraying it twice a day and keeping it moist, the humidity gauge has nose-dived to 30-35%. What's up with that?
Thanks in advance for any response.
I'm trying to add a photo, hope it works.
I used to used that moss but i found it seasonal . it would turn form green to red to brown . It does drink up a lot of water you gotta keep it moist. I suggest you use a humidifier i use a reptifogger for mine. If it doesn't green up in a few weeks then it may be dead.
Thanks, it is staying moist but the overall tank humidity is down. Can the moss actually hold all that moisture and keep the humidity down?
oh yes also what type of lid do you have on your tank?I have a screen but i also have a plexiglass top i cover it with time to time on dry or chilly days but my tank has side vents on it . when humidifying the tank i cover it let it sink in then remove it .
Pillow Moss doesn't usually thrive in the conditions we have in our vivs. Most types need a dormancy period. As far as the humidity goes, I don't see how it can be affecting it that much. After the initial spraying to moisten the moss, the vivs humidity should of returned to its normal range.
