I believe this was originally posted by GrifTheGreat. I just copied it down earlier today.

    Frog Books

I myself have not attempted to breed yet, but I do know some breeders and this is not a cheap nor easy task.

Find these books and read them.

Horned Frogs by Philippe de Vosjoli

Frogs and Toads by Devin Edmonds

The Horned Frog Family and African Bullfrogs by R.D. Bartlett and Patricia Bartlett

Breeding and Keeping Frogs and Toads by W. P. Mara

    These books will assist you.

There is a new book out on Amazon that I thought was pretty helpful just exclusively about pacman frogs by Taylor David. You can find it here.

I have the book by Taylor David. He recommends spagnum moss and reptile carpet as a substrate not Eco-earth.

Well, I guess Taylor David is wrong in my book. I'd be far more worried about my frog ingesting a piece of moss then some chunks of eco-earth. At first I thought it might have been an old copy, but I see it has recently been released, but keep in mind, knowledge is growing faster and faster on our pets, just because something was okay a few months ago, doesn't mean it is today.

It seems that it's because it's more likely to keep mold from growing since it's resistent to it - I've known eco-earth to have this mold problem.

It only molds if poorly maintained. At least once per week it should be mixed up and misted to remoisten the substrate and prevent mold. Most mold that grows on Eco Earth is harmless. The white mold feeds on decaying matter. Just remove the mold and keep the soil mixed up well.
