So near my town where I live in Zagreb-Croatia I came accros this small opening in the middel of a forest. It turns out that this was created during a land slip when a near by factory was diging up clay making treees unable to grow in the soil. During spring when rains fall small puddels and lakes from here making a haven for all sorts of amphibians and the best part is that this is located only 4 bus stops away from a 1 million people city
What I found were europian tree frogs (Hyla aborea)
Common toads (Bufo bufo)
Alpine newts (Ichthyosaura alpestris)
Fire salamanders (Salamandra salamandra)
Slowworms (Anguis fragilis)
European pond turtels (Emys orbicularis)
Grass snakes (Natrx Natrx)
Its really amazing to me to see a breeding population of these animals so near a city. I would have never hoped for this
Here are some pics:
Awesome pics and story ! The toad's name must be Popeyes... what a forearm he has ! The tree frogs are super cute and that salamander is looking for me to adopt her !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Oh my that Toad's forearm haha... Battletoads! Or he just hasn't found the right woman yet... haha.
Its just how it turned out in the pic. His armes arent that big normaly lol.
