Algae in crab tank

I have a tank full of crabs in a half-land, half-water setup, and about 3 weeks after I clean the tank out, (about once a month) a carpet of algae ALWAYS grows on the gravel. It's been going on since Christmas, when I got the crabs. How can I stop it from happening again?

Im no expert and know nothing about keeping crabs but maybe try some algae eating snails? if the crabs wont eat them that is.

Does it really matter? the crabs probably love it

Green algae is generally harmless and even may provide some nutrition to your crabs. Watch them. Do they pick at it? If the answer is yes, then chances are they are eating.
