i got a sickness this week, i was out of school for a whole week and i am just getting over it today but here is my problem
i remembered to spray my frog's enclosure every night and i fed them but i forgot to change the water in their main dish. today i walked by their enclosure and noticed that there was no water in their dish, and that there were two frogs in the dish. they looked dead and i was so worried so i immediately conditioned water and poured it into their dish and poked them with a spoon to see if they were alive. the little one was, the big one was stiff and didn't feel alive, then it wiggled and frog underneath it came one of the other little frogs, alive, and the big one floated to a corner of the dish, and i thought it was dead, then i noticed the other big one curled up in the corner on the substrate that looked dead so i placed that one in the water dish also, and then the big one that had been in the water dish and had the little one under it moved, wiggled, then opened its mouth and sat in the water, and so i was thinking of working on getting a quarentine tank set up but i still couldnt find a little one so i took the plant and branched out and found the little one, poked it and it hopped into the water dish,
so right now i have four alive but dehydrated frogs that are a bit stiff sitting in the water bowl, and also one that i possibly dead and definetly stiff sitting in the water bowl
what do i do for this?
how do i make a honey bath? what would the ratio of honey to water be?
how do i know for sure if the second big one is dead or not? the first big one was so stiff and stuck together i thought it was for sure dead, then it moved and it still is now
they are all very close to death and look skinny, but they have been eating.
so t sum it up,
what should i do for dehydration? a honey bath? how?
here are some pictures:
the possibly dead? frog
the other frogs
THEY MUST SOAK !!!
Don't move them into a hospital tank ...... tonight If at all, they are not sick.
Herd them into the soaking dishes! asap
Be VERY careful -- their skin is very fragile right now !!!! , and will be damaged easily if handled
Get to the supermarket .....purchase :
1)plain (unflavored Pedialyte) it's in the baby food isle ( pedi is used for dehydrated infants and toddlers)
2) a gallon of distilled water
Make a solution of 1 part pedialyte to 10 parts distilled water ( 1:10 )
Put this solution in their water dishes
( add extra CLEAN soaking dishes if possible)
Make sure each frog gets in the pedi solution for at least 30 - 45 minutes
Then change the water back to their regular de-chlorinated water for the rest of tonight
Repeat the pedi soaks tomorrow morning.
If a frog is too weak to move ...dribble , dribble, dribble LOTS of the pedi solution on it
You have to stand there and do this for a long time !! Slowly, letting the pedi solution soak into the frog's skin.
( not on it's face or eyes)
If it's on a leaf........ dip the leaf into the pedi solution
If it's on the glass -dribble !
You can just add the pedi solution to their bowl , so you don't have to move them.
Be careful not to over-fill the bowl. If they are weak it could be difficult for them to pick their heads up out of the water.
If you are unable to get to the market then re-hydrate them in their regular de-chlorinated water
Dont' worry about food tonight
I'm sorry you are having this trouble.

Thank you for your response, i am very happy, and kind of sad. I have both good and bad news.
The frog that was floating and i thought was dead, was indeed dead.
but i have four other frogs that soaked for three hours straight and one just ate a cricket. They are all moving about just fine like nothing happened, so in some ways i avoided a bad situation and in some ways i didnt.
i feel awful because it was my fault and i forgot to change their water, but then again it wasnt because i slept 24 hours straight. Literally. I woke up for the bathroom twice.
So i guess i reached a neutral position. It was bad, it wasnt. It was my fault, it wasnt.
i am very thankful for the advice. My mom says she doesnt mind buying some of that stuff if we need it, so we will go as soon as we can
as for my sickness i have had all week, i am really scared but i have to see a specialist. They think it might be serious. I am only 13 and i am kinda freaking out.
so yeah.... Its ok
