    Default just a quick question

I have 3 whites tree frogs in a 30 gallon and they are about to move into a 55 till sometime after Christmas when their 75 will be ready.

Anyway my question is this. 2 of the frogs are extremely over weight the 3rd on is an average size. I feed them 20 large crickets every 3 days. Should I put Frogger ( the average weight frog) in the 55 and feed him his normal 5 or 6 large crickets every 3 days and give them fewer in the 30 till their size goes back down, or move them to the larger tank all together and feed them outside the tank for awhile? Or just feed them as usual and hope that they will move around more and loose the weight?

I will take pics when I get home.

Why not feed them using forceps? That way you can make sure they each get what they need, and without a bunch of crix roaming the viv. Cause you know sometimes in a larger habitat some feeders go all Laurence Fishburne in Predators.

We have never used forceps. I don't know if they will eat from them. I have tried feeding them separately in a different container they really did not like that and got really stressed and finally stopped eating.

I think I would go with the plan to put them into the larger tank.
Get the plants up real high---they'll get there!

I converted a 40 gallon once. I siliconed a cheap black/plastic pictures frame onto the interior ceiling of the tank. The cross bars in the frame created a spot to help drape log pothos vines. I believe there is a photo of it in a smaller 10 gallon vertical in this thread:

You could try to feed less ..............daily? Try the bowl method of feeding if not already doing it.
Maybe, even use 2 bowls? Less food competition.
The bowl also helps to keep the dusted supplements on the crickets.
Develop a consistent dusting schedule ........assuring all will get what they need over time.

    Just a thought

Funny........They really develop habits. I feed with clear glass bowls.....once I moved the bowl in one enclosure... I found all 4 the frogs- that night- sitting in the spot where the bowl was. Seeing something like this reminds me never to take for granted how stressed they get when they are moved, transported etc. They don't even like their 'stuff' messed with.

Have fun. Nothing like creating a new enclosure ! Post some pics as you go along ?

I have tried the glass bowl trick. I am going to have to do that again. When my husband and I have the money we want to build them feeding chambers into a huge tank. So they could go there at feeding time and eat but it would take awhile for that to be figured out if you even could. Here is the link to my other post about the new tank. It was suppose to be a 125 gallon but my son's lizard ended up needing it. So they are getting a 55 for now and we just picked up a 75 gallon tank. If we can get it to hold water we will start building it for them after Christmas. http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...ree-frogs.html I will try to post the pics we have taken so far and take a few more today.
