    Default Green moss?

I'm about to set up a dart frog tank and I came across this stuff. The bag says, "Schultz All Natural Green Moss" "Excellent liner for hanging wire baskets & terrariums"

My question is it really safe? Bags often lie. I picked a bag up, with the purpose of using it either for my frog tank or my plants. So either way it wouldn't go to waste.

To be honest, it looks like someone went out to their yard and ripped up a bunch of ****, dried it out and put it in a bag for me to buy. It was cheap ($1 for 4Qts), I won't be heart broken if I can't use it.

I would assume if I soaked it, it would be okay, but there are people FAR more experienced than me and I don't want to kill the little guy...or gal.

Hi there, Ive come across the same situation myself. I wont use anything unless i know for sure its safe. Does the bag have an email or contact details? If not ask the shop where you purchased it from. I was lucky and now i get it from the supplier before its dried out and its still beautiful and green. Its completely organic. There are other members in your area that use moss and maybe able to help you with a supplier. Good Luck

I went to the website and sent them an email and it said i would have a response in two days. I'm not in a hurry, but thought someone might have already used it. I thought about finding a place that has something organic, but I thought my Java moss (dried out) would work alright too.

I only use sphagnum moss because I have never had a problem with it and it comes back to life after a while. Schultz All Natural Green Moss seems like it would be fine to me, as a matter of fact i am going to get some and see how well it works in a viv I'm building now. Just let it soak overnight. If someone has had negative results I would like to hear them.

I got mine at a "dollar" store but it runs 4-5 bucks at walmart.

I doubt there's any harm in trying it. If you're using it in a Dart Frog terrarium, it may not last very long before rotting.

Yea, I figure that, that's why I was looking for a cheap alternative. That way it's no big deal if I throw a bunch in the compost bin.

When in doubt, leave it out.
Watching FrogTV because it is better when someone else has to maintain the enclosure!
