I got two new Whites Tree Frog's yesterday and i cant get the temparature in the tank to go above 70°F at night. During the day the temp is 81-82°F. I read somewhere else on another thread that 82 degrees and dropping down to 70 degrees at night is too much and could be stressful for the tree frogs and i would hate for that to happen. Please help with what i should do for night time. I also read that heating pads could burn the frog so i dont know if i want to do that
Welcome to FF! Here is a good article to help care for your White's: Frog Forum - White's Tree Frog Care - Litoria caerulea. You want day temps at 85F and can drop that to 75F at night.
For nighttime heat can use ceramic heat emitters (no light), black "moonlight," or infrared bulbs. Can control those with a manual dimmer "rheostat" or automatic thermostat. Lamps do reduce humidity so watch it stays around 50-60%. If using heat mats or similar, those have to be used outside enclosure side (not underneath). Hope this helps and good luck !
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
I had simular problems.
Until I got this setup that controls both heat and humidity.
zoomed repti fogger (you can also use a modified home ultra sonic humidifier)
two medium heat mats one applied to the lower back and the lower side. To make a warm corner.
but above the substrate level. On the out side of the enclosure.
A 75W ceramic heat emitter and a infra red lamp. Not the red lamp.
All controlled by a zoo med hygrotherm HT-10 controller $40.00 on amazon.
Do not buy this stuff from a pet store it will cost you $$$
