Hey guys first post since 2010 here, im was wondering about the amount of adf that could be kept together and if its pereffered that theres more than one.
Do you mean African Dwarf frogs: (Hymenochirus)
If so, I have 4 and have always been told that while they can get along just fine Solo, they are, in fact, community frogs and seem to do better when there are at least two - four together in an enclosure.....
yes thanks for your input
I have 7 in one 46G bow front
and have no problems
I also keep them with nonaggressive species of fish like neon Tetras and green corys
My guys/girls are currently in with Dwarf Gourami..
African dwarf frogs are social creatures, which means they do not absolutely require a companion but they will be more active and happy with at least one mate. Personally I would never house one alone. In a 5 gallon I would say the most you can house comfortably is 3 (some people say 2). I have 2 in half of a 10 gallon. Make sure your aquarium has at least 1 cave or hiding spot or they will act very restless. Also watch to make sure the lone gourami isn't getting his fins launched at excessively. It is likely to happen as an honest mistake by the frogs (thinking the pelvic or caudal fin is food), but if a bunch of frogs are doing it the fish will be very stressed. How big is your tank? Just realized this is a old thread.
The frogs are happy and as I type a few are in anaplexus
